We've survived our first week...after the initial rush that is. Our server shut down three times!

We have significantly increased capacity and hope to be doing more of the same shortly.

We are now focusing on making major improvements to the site, including improved speed, taste predictions, and tools for posting content from your site.

If you are a webmaster, run a blog, etc., you can now post a link from your site to MoSexIndex using our new bookmarklet tool. This tool helps you easily create a link to MoSexIndex with the proper syntax.

We will be adding more tools shortly, so stay tuned!

Hello World

The witty, efferrvescent, and wickedly smart Regina Lynn just did a story about us in Wired.com.

Of all times to make our awareness known, apparently Friday isn't the best! Especially if you've been dugg. Our servers went down completely, twice. We've had to quadruple memory until we increase our capacity. Over 3000 signups in two days! Please accept our apologies for the slow site (we're working on it!!) and thank you for bearing with us!!

For those of you that have just found us, welcome! We are very happy to have your participation to help qualify the best sexual content online, and find the best content for you specifically using our taste-networking system. We're putting this system through its paces, learning what works and what doesn't every day.

It will only get better with a larger community and time. FYI we're about to make some significant improvements to our taste networking algorithm, so check back often!

What turns you on?

We are happy to announce the addition of a major new feature to MoSexIndex.com... personalized site recommendations. We've been waiting for this moment before announcing MoSexIndex to the general public.

Starting now, our new taste networking feature will allow users to quickly and easily discover and share sites with other users that have taste similar to yours. Recommendation accuracy depends on the size and participation of the community, so we're making a big push to get as many people signed on, submitting stories, and rating sites as often as possible. We can really use your help!

Please tell all your friends about us, visit and rate often!

The first step is to fill out our "What turns you on?" questionnaire. If you haven't joined yet, you'll be asked to fill this out as part of your registration. If you have already joined, look for the green highlit "What turns you on?" link on the homepage. After filling this out and rating five sites, MoSexIndex will generate your list of personalized recommendations.

Since we're only starting, your initial recommendations might not yield a high degree of close matches yet, but could come pretty close. As the community builds (tell your friends! tell your friends!) we'll be able to find more people that have your unique taste and increase the accuracy of your recommendations.

MoSexIndex Beta 1.0 Launches

Welcome to the MoSexIndex, a new "social content" project for cataloguing and providing listings to the best sex sites on the web, created by the Museum of Sex.

While "sex-site" listing services are nothing new, one that uses the collective intelligence of a community -- as opposed to a small group of editors -- most definitely is. The Museum of Sex was inspired by the incredible success of other web 2.0 sites (aka social content/networking/tagging/etc.) to create such a site specifically for online sexual content, including porn sites, news, art, literature, and much much more.

The site will only get better as more people participate. We greatly appreciate your efforts in helping us start by:

+ posting new sites
+ tagging and rating sites that others post, and
+ giving us your feedback during this beta test

The sites you rate and "tag" are saved into your personal site archive, found in the "mySexIndex" section. Tagging is an extremely useful way to organize sites that you like. In addition, as others in the MoSexIndex community participate, the group effort will begin to develop an intelligence about the sites that everyone tags individually, creating a categorization method far superior to those used in other listings sites.

In coming weeks, we will incorporate some exciting new features, not least of which will be collaborative filtering technology. Collaborative filtering is based on the theory that "birds of a feather flock together." Your personal site ratings will help the MoSexIndex find other users that have similar tastes to you. The "mySexIndex" page will eventually showcase sites that score well in your unique "taste community," which means you'll get site recommendations matched to your unique sexual tastes, an unprecedented feature for online sex content.
